Why aren't you selling ONLY ethical products and brands?
We don't want to tell people what to buy (or think) and, so we put you in charge; giving you the best information we can, showing you the bad as well as the good, so you can choose where your money goes.
We firmly believe that to choose a better world and make lasting change, we all need a better understanding of the problems as well as what each of us can do about it.
Do I have to have an online account to place an order?
Having an online account isn't necessary, but it does make ordering faster and easier for you. And it let you see your previous orders and preferences.
What payment methods can I use?
We accept most credit and debit cards, but if you do have a problem please let us know at help@spaice.com, and we'll do our best to help.
How secure is your payment portal?
Our website is securely hosted and your payment details are handled by a specialist payment service with the highest security. Your payment details are never held on, or 'seen' by our site so they cannot be accessed through our website or servers.
Can I order and pay over the phone?
We don't have this service at present, but it is something we plan to introduce, do consider signing up to our newsletter so you can stay informed about all the improvements and changes we'll be making.
What percentage of my money goes direct to your charitable partners?
We guarantee at least 60%, and up to 100% of the profit from your purchase will go to our charitable partners or community projects.
How can I be sure that my money is genuinely going to charity?
Transparency is a fundamental value at Spaice so, as well as our annual company accounts, we will dedicate a section of our website to showing you where your money goes. At first we'll report this quarterly but our aim is to have this as an almost live, daily, update so you can see how you're changing the world.
If what I want isn't on your site, will you source it for me/can I order it?
Of course – just email us at help@spaice.com with full details, and we'll do what we can. We'll also keep you fully updated on our progress.
I haven't received a confirmation email - how do I know you've received my order?
You should receive a confirmation email very soon after you’ve successfully placed an order. If one hasn’t arrived within five minutes please check your Spam folder and, if it's not there, email us at help@spaice.com with your order number, if you have it, or your name and delivery post code.
What are the delivery options and charges?

Do you offer Next-Day delivery?
We do plan to offer this soon. If available, there will be an upgrade option at checkout. The cut-off time for the order being placed, and accepted by our system, will be 14:00.
Standard delivery can be expected between 2-4 days and may sometimes arrive next day but this cannot be guaranteed.
Why do you have a delivery charge when so many companies don't?
Free delivery was introduced by many companies when Amazon successfully used it to boost profits, it nudged customers into buying more than they needed by offering free delivery.
We believe it is an unethical practice because it exists only to make people spend their money on things they didn't need. And it creates extra pollution, traffic, and damage to our roads.
We have tried to keep our charges as low as possible (we don't make any profit on the charges) and hope you will order in batches occassionally (as we always used to), and not 'last minute' and often.
Do you deliver internationally?
No, but Watch this Spaice because we will be opening up in Europe soon! Sing up to our newsletter and we'll keep you posted on all the new services and changes as we introduce them.
How soon will I receive my order after I've placed it?
Depending on availability and delivery, your order will usually be despatched within 24 hours and you should receive it within 2-4 days.
Where will my order be sent from?
We have suppliers all over the country, and some in Europe, so your order may come from any one, occassionally more, of them.
Will delivery be tracked?
We do not have this feature yet and will introduce it as soon as we are able.
Which delivery companies do you use?
We don't have control of which company our suppliers use, most of them use DPD or UPS as the most consitently reliable.
What do I do if I have issues with the delivery company?
Please let us know as soon as possible at help@spaice.com so that we can take it up with the supplier on your behalf.
How can I return an item?

Can I return an item just because I've changed my mind about it?
Yes! You have thirty days to return the item to us.
The item you’re returning must:
Be unused, with its labels and tags intact.
Not contain personal data or have been registered with the manufacturer (for phones, computers and other technology products).
Returns are free but you will need to pay for postage and we urge you to use a tracked and insured service. There are some items we cannot accept returns or exchanges for, unless they're faulty. Read our returns policy to find out more.
What's your Refund policy?

How quickly will I get my money back?
Refunds can take up to 7 days for the payment processor and your bank to process, and we have our own processes as well as the time taken for the item to reach us. Please visit our Deliveries and Returns page for more information.
What kind of packaging do you use?
We encourage our suppliers to use minimal, and sustainable (kind to people and planet) packaging, however, we have no control of their practices.
But please do let us know your experience of deliveries at help@spaice.com, so we can praise or push suppliers for improvements
Do returns need to be sent in the original packaging?
The returns should, weherever possible, be in the original manufacturers packaging but not the outer, delivery, packing.
Please note that if you are returning items that you have changed your mind about they must be in saleable condition - i.e. fit to be sent to a new customer 'as new'.
How do I cancel or change my order?
You can sometimes amend or cancel your order within your account on our site (if you opted to create one), otherwise please message us at help@spaice.com with your order number and Order Change in the subject.
How do I make a complaint?
We genuinely value our relationships with you, and want to help you if things go wrong. So plese email us at help@spaice.com and add Complaint (and order number if you have one) in the email subject.
We will do our best to reply quickly and within five working days at the most.
What can I do about a faulty product?

Will you advise me about what to buy?
No because we want the choice to always be yours.
If you have a query about the product details or use then please contact the manufacturer first as they have the best and most accurate knowledge.
If you have queries about the ethics of a product then we suggest you look at the Ethical Consumer's website to see more detailed reports (some of these detailed reports may require a subscription)
What happens if my order doesn't arrive?
Please email us at help@spaice.com if your order hasn't arrived after four working days (the next working day if you upgraded to next day delivery) after despatch (please include your order number and delivery post code).
What are your office hours?
Our team works from 09:00 to 17:00 and we aim to respond to emails within a day and chat messages, when available, within a few minutes.
We hope to add a telephone service soon so you can speak to us directly.
Can I buy a gift card?
We're working on this - keep an eye on the website or, better, sign up to our news for an announcement!
Who has access to my personal details?
No one in our organisation or suppliers has access to any information they do not need to service your order.
We do not share any information with anyone else.
Will you share my personal details with anyone else?
We do not share any information that is not directly needed to provide the product or service you requested.

How is Spaice different from other online retailers?
We're a not-for-profit social enterprise, we exist to change the way everyone thinks about business and wasteful consumerism. We believe we can all have a great life without harming other people, animals, or our planet.
We want to make a difference in the world, and recognize that often the things we need to buy will still cause harm to our planet and it's life. So we donate at least 60% of our profits to carefully selected partners (NGOs and community projects) working on the root causes of our biggest problems.
We'd like our customers to make informed decisions about where their money goes, so have created a simple, unique. visual social responsibility indicator for each manufacturer. And we aim to sell all the important manufacturers so you can see the differences and you decide who deserves your money.

If we only stocked ethical products, you wouldn't have that vital opportunity to see what lies underneath big brands' flashy marketing campaigns, greenwash, and often misleading claims.
And nothing would change.

How is Spaice funded?
Right from its very own "Big Bang", Spaice has been almost entirely funded by Vipul, our trailblazing founder.

We're currently a team of three with a huge, external, network for logistics and warehousing, and order processing.
How do you assess the brands for social responsibility?

It's important for us to be 'at arms length' - Spaice cannot influence the evaluations so we can guarantee that the ratings are trustworthy and, no matter what we might think, the decision is yours and you're getting only the facts.
How often do you update the social responsibility ratings?
Our ratings are completely reevaluated every 12 months. But if Ethical Consumer (our partner carrying out the evaluations) discover any significant changes sooner then those are updated sooner.
What percentage of my money goes direct to your charity partners?
We guaranteee that at least 60%, and up to 100%, of the profit from your purchase goes to the charity partners or community projects. It may be much more, but we are allowing for up to 40% to be used for Spaice to improve and expand it's services to you and your planet.
None of your profits will be drawn out by shareholders as dividends to get rich (or, despite our name, build space ships!)
How do you choose which charities you're donating to?
For example, Whale and Dolphin Conservation are very effectively protecting whales and dolphins and, in doing so, they play a vital part in protecting the Oceans that are absolutely critical to life on our planet.
Your purchases will always be working twice:
First: solving your need.
Second: protecting the things you care about.
Where is Spaice based?
We're based in the UK and most of our team work remotely with an office soon to open in Exeter.
Why do you donate such large amounts to charity?
Because we're driven by a love for the planet: its people, life, and nature.
Because we know, and want to remind everyone else, that business can serve society - it doesn't have to exploit and abuse it, that was an ideological choice our society made.
Unusually for an retail company, we're not driven by profit!
And truly sustainable business can never be profit driven because accumulating wealth means taking it from someone else (there's no such thing as a wealth 'creator').
Spaice seems "too good to be true" – what's the catch?
